Let’s circle back on this
Hello, Congress weekly readers! Are you starting to get excited about Congress? We sure are. Today we’re taking an imaginary walk through the Congress Hub to get you acquainted with arrival, registration, and entertainment found in the beating heart of the Keele campus. Top tip: bookmark this email for later in May so you can have all this helpful info at hand.
It all begins at the Congress Hub
The Hub is located right in the middle of the Keele campus at York University and comprises the Vari Hall-Rotunda, the Ross Building, and Central Square. In the Hub, you will find these key spaces:
- Expo
- Publications table
- Registration – Badge pick up, onsite registration, and the accessibility desk
- Expo Theatre
- Central Square Reckonings Café
- Scott Library – for onsite printing and photocopying, and President's Receptions.
We suggest you check out Maps beforehand to orient yourself and visit Local amenities for opening hours for the above spaces.
Need help outside the Congress Hub? Several outdoor Information kiosks will be conveniently placed around campus where you can grab a map, ask for support or wayfinding, or get directed to on and off campus walks and activities (like the Swag Stages).
Getting to the Congress Hub and first steps on arrival
First things first, we strongly recommend that you plan your travel to York’s Keele campus ahead of time. Toronto traffic can get busy, even on the weekends, so ensure you’ve predetermined your route and leave an appropriate amount of time to get to campus and collect your badge before heading off for that day’s association conference or open programming.
Check registration desk hours when planning arrival and leave plenty of time before your scheduled activities in case of lineups. Checking in at the registration desk and collecting (and wearing) your badge is a pre-requisite for any registered Congress attendee.
If you’re attending as part of an association conference, be sure to download your association’s program from the Congress website before arriving to locate your association’s greeting table.
Expo exposé
The great news is, once you’re in the Congress Hub, you’re already at Expo! Exhibitors will be lining the halls of the Vari Hall Rotunda, the Ross Building, and Central Square. This sold out tradeshow has something for everyone: visit Another Story Bookshop or the York University Bookstore to pick up some new titles for your summer reading list. Purchase beautiful jewelry at Bone & Quill or get artistically inspired at Art Metropole.
Fill those bookshelves further and network with publishers by visiting Wilfrid Laurier University Press, Peter Lang Publishing, HarperCollins Canada, Penguin Random House Canada, Book*hug Press and Wolsak & Wynn, Broadview Press, Drawn & Quarterly Books – among dozens of presses exhibiting.
Find professional resources or support via Education Canada, University Pension Plan, Studiosity, Angus Reid Group, Gale-Cengage Learning, Research Impact Canada and more!
Head over to Expo for the complete exhibitor list.
Plus: visit Expo and participate at exhibitor booths for a chance to win a Kindle, an Expo book bundle, gift cards, and more.
