CSHPM's annual special session examines the meaning of progress and growth in mathematics, a discipline often perceived by the public and even its practitioners as wholly cumulative. Presenters will explore the inevitable complications that arise in ideas and communities during the process of change through a variety of philosophical and historical case studies.
