David C. Malloy, PhD, is a Western alumnus, earning both his bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Western’s Faculty of Physical Education. He received his doctorate in Educational Administration from the University of Ottawa. From 2019 to 2024, Dr. Malloy served as the Principal of King's University College at Western University in London, Ontario, Canada, a title that was changed to President in 2021.

This follows his 30-year career with the University of Regina, both as a faculty member and administrator, holding the roles of Assistant Dean of the Faculty of Kinesiology & Health Studies, Associate Dean in the Faculty of Graduate Studies & Research, Associate Vice-President (Research) and Vice-President (Research).

Dr. Malloy has maintained an active research portfolio, with a focus on applied philosophy in health care. His interests include ethical decision-making, codes of ethics, existential hardiness, personhood, and ethical climate/culture.

During his academic career, he has published six books and 67 peer-reviewed articles, contributed to three book chapters and seven book reviews, given 81 conference presentations, and has received more than $4.5 million dollars in team and individual research grants. He has served as an adjudicator for both the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council (SSHRC) and the Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR).

In his spare time, Dr. Malloy is an active musician, as a bass guitarist and vocalist. He also enjoys sports, and was the head track and field coach for Western University.
