Stéphane Grenier, TS, PhD, is a professor and researcher in social work at the Université du Québec en AbitibiTémiscamingue. His research focuses on housing as a social determinant of health and well-being. He is particularly interested in the residential pathways of vulnerable people and the effect of social housing programs on them. He has also developed an expertise in research with First Nations. He is currently working on the family factors surrounding Aboriginal homelessness. On the volunteer and community service front, he has served as President of the Canadian Association for Social Work Education. He has also served as a director of the Société d'Habitation du Québec. He has been the president of La Piaule de Val-d'Or, a homeless shelter, for nearly 10 years and is currently leading its second social housing project.
