ACDE-ACDÉ CIESC Reframing togetherness in a time of escalating challenges: A fireside chat with Lynn Gangone
In a time of escalating challenges to the academy and public education, institutions of higher learning face increasing pressure from extremist political agendas aiming to undermine their core values. This session, featuring Dr. Lynn Gangone, Past President of the American Association for Colleges of Teacher Education (AACTE), will explore how teacher education providers and institutions globally can reframe togetherness to foster resilience and advance equity, diversity, inclusion, and decolonization (EDID) in their communities.
This dynamic conversation, situated in a global context, will draw on developments within the Global Network of Deans of Education and examples of international collaboration to highlight strategies for protecting the autonomy of educational institutions and the integrity of public education systems. Dr. Gangone will engage with pressing regional, national, and international issues, emphasizing how scholars and educators can build coalitions that bridge borders and disciplines to confront shared threats.
By promoting dialogue across international boundaries, this session seeks to inspire actionable ideas for collaboration among scholars, community partners, policy makers, and the public. Participants will leave with insights into innovative approaches that amplify the academy’s role in addressing societal challenges, strengthening public education, and contributing to the public good.
Aligned with the objectives of the Open Programming Fund, this session not only addresses globally significant issues but also embodies a commitment to EDID principles, ensuring a diverse and inclusive lens is central to the discussion.
