Jing (Jenny) Chen

Dr. Jing Chen is a Professor of Supply Chain and Decision Sciences and William A. Black Chair in Commerce at the Rowe School of Business, and holds a joint appointment in Industrial Engineering, at Dalhousie University. Before joining Dalhousie in 2013, she worked for the Faculty of Business and Economics, the University of Winnipeg 2008-2013, as an Associated/Assistant Professor. Dr. Chen received her Ph.D. in Management Sciences/Operations Research from the Richard Ivey School of Business, Western University in 2008.

Dr. Chen’s research interests include supply chain management, channel competition, and the interface of marketing and operations management. She is the Principal Investigator for two NSERC Discovery grants and one SSHRC Insight Development Grant. She has published more than 60 research papers in leading journals in the field, four editorials, twelve Ivey cases, and one business casebook. Dr. Chen's research achievements have also been recognized. She received the 2020 President’s Research Award for Research Impact from Dalhousie University and the 2018/2019 Faculty of Management Research Impact Award from her Faculty.

Dr. Chen's contributions to the academic community and the economics literature have recognized in a number of awards. She received the Best Reviewers from several journals. She currently serves as an Associate Editor for International Transactions in Operational Research (since 2013) and for the International Journal of Management Science and Engineering Management (OMEGA, since 2020). She has also served as a guest editor for a special issue in each of five journals (2016-2021), on the SSHRC IDG Grant Selection Committee (2020 & 2021), and as an external reviewer for new proposed Masters Programs for two universities in Canada.
