December 16, 2021

Dear members of the Federation,

We are pleased to announce that the Black Canadian Studies Association (BCSA) will be participating in Congress 2022 as members of the Federation.

Dr. Melanie Knight, recently appointed President of the BCSA, will be the main point person and dedicated Program Chair for the 2022 BCSA conference at Congress.

As per the BCSA’s latest statement, the Federation remains committed to upholding its agreed upon commitments to the BCSA, including “the waiving of fees, a future in-person Congress theme focusing on Black Studies/anti-Black racism, eventual grant support, and technical assistance for virtual Congress.” In addition, we will continue intensive discussion and the building of strategies to address anti-Black racism at Congress, in the Federation and with our members associations.

We are looking forward to a renewed collaboration, and to supporting the BCSA and its members towards a strong conference in 2022 and beyond.

Sincerely,

Gabriel Miller
