Federal election 2021

The Federation for the Humanities and Social Sciences congratulates all members of the 44th Parliament following the September 20 federal election. The Federation has been working to advance our advocacy priorities on research funding; digital infrastructure, online learning and open science; and reconciliation, equity, diversity, and inclusion. We look forward to working with the new Parliament and renewing consultations with our members, as we continue to advocate for the important contributions of our humanities and social sciences community. Read our 2022 federal pre-budget submission and download our election toolkit for an update on the Federation’s advocacy efforts.

We’ve launched our new brand and website!

Last week, we launched our new website at www.federationhss.ca. It is an important milestone for us, as it’s been a long time coming. Over the past year, we’ve been working to build a website that not only follows a high accessibility standard (WCAG 2.0), but also offers our members and our community relevant information about the Federation, and about Congress, in a single place.

Following the release of “Igniting Change”, the report by the Congress Advisory Committee on Equity, Diversity, Inclusion, and Decolonization, the Federation committed to act on the Committee’s recommendations by releasing a five-point Action Plan. Hiring new personnel with EDID experience and expertise was, and remains, key to achieving deep and lasting change. In line with this commitment, we’re pleased to now be seeking to hire a Senior Advisor, Equity, Diversity, Inclusion, and Decolonization (EDID). If you have experience advising, consulting, educating, and/or coaching on EDID issues, we encourage you to apply. Learn more.
