The Coalition for Canadian Research's open letter

The Federation, as part of The Coalition for Canadian Research, presented an open letter calling on the federal government to make a major new investment in our research system. The letter's publication was accompanied by a series of speeches at Parliament Hill, including one by Federation President and CEO, Gabriel Miller, stressing a need for urgent action. The open letter follows the Federation's recommendations submitted for the federal 2024 pre-budget. Read the letter and watch the conference.


Big Thinking Podcast season 3 coming soon

The Federation’s Big Thinking Podcast returns in November 2023. This season will feature leading researchers such as Dr. Crystal Fraser, Professor Nemoy Lewis and Professor Céline Castets-Renard. Stay tuned for the full lineup announcement coming soon. Dive into seasons 1 and 2.


Panel discussion at the Canadian Science Policy Conference

Acfas and the Federation will host a panel discussion in French titled "Nouvelle loi, nouveau plan d'action pour les langues officielles : quelles avancées pour la recherche en français?" at the Canadian Science Policy Conference on November 15, 2023, at 10:30 ET. The Federation is happy to announce the addition of a new scholarly association member: the Canadian Society for Iranian and Persian Studies (CSIPS). The CSIPS provides a critical and scholarly Canadian forum for the sharing and dissemination of knowledge and research in Iranian and Persian Studies.
