What does a creative and entrepreneurial Canada look like to you? What are the steps needed to make your vision for a creative and entrepreneurial Canada a reality? How do creative entrepreneurs stay relevant in a rapidly changing digital landscape?

These are only a few of the questions the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council (SSHRC) and their partnership with Google Canada and Startup Canada are asking Canadian citizens in their national dialogue, launched on September 13, to build a #CreativeCanada.

Over the next two months the partnership will be creating a national dialogue for Canada’s most creative and entrepreneurial citizens. Taking the form of a national, live-streamed panel and six digital forums across Canada, Canadian academics, entrepreneurs, researchers, government leaders and industry experts are invited to submit videos of their ideas concerning talent, creative industries and innovation. Go to http://www.startupcan.ca/creativecanada/ for your opportunity to submit a video, or join the conversation on  #CreativeCanada on Twitter. Join the [free] special #StartupChats presentation on October 31 from 12:00-1:00 pm ET by registering here. On November 3, you can watch a cross-Canada livestream panel that will share insights on building a more entrepreneurial and creative nation. So many ways to participate!

The collection of these ideas and consultations will contribute to the federal government’s national strategy to improve the level of innovation, creativity and entrepreneurship within Canada. Findings will be shared publicly in November 2016 as part of Global Entrepreneurship Week.

Regional forums and the broadcast panel are scheduled as follows:

Fredericton, N.B., September 13, 2016

Montreal, Q.C., October 4, 2016

Vancouver, B.C., October 24, 2016

Calgary, A.B.,  October 27, 2016

Toronto, O.N., October 31, 2016

Digital Town Hall, November 3 2016

Waterloo, O.N., November  9, 2016
