Congress 2025’s theme Reframing Togetherness, offers an opportunity to model meaningful togetherness while critically examining colonial hierarchies that have excluded Indigenous peoples from their lands, languages and cultures and reinforcing historically rooted injustices. As we mark the 10th anniversary of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission’s 94 Calls to Action, this moment calls for deep reflection and critical engagement with the ongoing impacts of colonialism in education and beyond.
This session challenges institutions to rethink their commitments to justice and reconciliation and offers practical guidance for scholars, educators, and graduate students, equipping us with the knowledge needed to move toward more equitable and meaningful reconciliation within the Canadian reality.
This session is co-hosted by the Canadian Society for the Study of Higher Education (CSSHE), the Canadian Sociological Association (CSA), the Canadian Society for the Study of Education (CSSE), and the Canadian Network for Innovation in Education (CNIE).
